Does it cost anything to use this website?
No. Backyard Jungle is totally free.
Why didn't my Discovery show up in my Backyard for others to see?
When you move a Discovery from your collection to your Backyard, nobody else can see it for 24 hours. This gives us time to review your Discovery. This is how we prevent obscene or dangerous words and pictures from showing up on the website. So come back the next day and your Discovery will show as part of your Backyard for everyone to see! What is a Vote and how do you use them?
Votes let Members pick the best Backyards, Discoveries, and Members pages. Your Member page tells you how many times other Members have voted for you. Every Member gets 3 votes per day. You cannot vote for yourself! If you use all 3 votes in one day, you earn 200 points. You can come back every day to vote again. The Backyard Jungle homepage lists the Members Voted Best Backyards, Best Discoveries, and the Members themselves who have received the highest number of votes.
How can I get more votes from other Members?
Make great pages and if you get enough votes you will be shown on the Backyard Jungle homepage! You might also want to send messages to other Members and maybe they will vote for you.
How do I send messages to other Members, and what do they see?
Every page with a Backyard, Discovery, or Member lets you send a message to the Member that created the page. Tell them what you think of their stuff! Go to one of these pages and you will see the list of messages you can send. They will receive the message on their private Member page. The message will list your Member name as the person who sent it.
How do I change the information and icons on my Member page?
You need to login to Backyard Jungle with your Member name and password. Then you can go to your Member page and change the information. There is a link to go to your Member page next to your Member name after you login. If you are not yet a Member, click on Join Now!
Is there a particular browser that is recommended for viewing the site?
Backyard Jungle is best viewed on Internet Explorer 5.0 and above and Netscape 7.0 and above. It works in older broswers, too, but site performance is optimal in these newer browers.
What plugins do I need to use the draw tool?
To create Discoveries using the draw tool, you need a Java plugin. If you do not have Java, you can download it and install it on your computer.
When uploading Discoveries, is there a minimum size for images that I should use?
When uploading Discoveries, make sure that the image you upload is at least 350 pixels wide x 250 pixels high. Images smaller than this may appear distorted on the site. Larger images will automatically be resized to fit on the site.
